and providing that the County Commissioners shall not con-
tribute to the support of fire companies organized without
authorization of the Board of Fire Commissioners.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That two new sections are hereby added to Article 2 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Anne Arundel County", to be under the new sub-title of
"Fire Commissioners", said new sections to follow immediately
after Section 277 of said Article, to be known as Sections 278
and 279 thereof, and to read as follows:

FIRE COMMISSIONERS.

278. A Board of Fire Commissioners consisting of three (3)
members shall be appointed by the County Commissioners of
Anne Arundel County. The members of this Board shall be
appointed from a list of not less than three names for each
vacancy, to be submitted by the Anne Arundel County Volun-
teer Firemen's Association for appointment. Only one mem-
ber may be appointed from any one election district. The term
of office for the members of said Board shall be for three years
from date of appointment and until their successors have been
appointed. The term of office of the members of the first Board
appointed hereunder shall be one member each for a term of
one, two and three years respectively, to be designated by the
County Commissioners. The County Commissioners may re-
move any member at any time for cause after a hearing and in
such event his successor shall be appointed for his unexpired
term, in the manner hereinbefore set forth. For the faithful
performance of their duties each member shall be paid annually
the sum of one hundred dollars. The Board of Fire Commis-
sioners shall have supervisory jurisdiction over the Fire De-
partment chauffeurs. They are empowered to establish rules
and regulations to govern the duties of the chauffeurs, and the
formation of new companies, and regulations governing vaca-
tions, subject to the approval of such rules and regulations by
the County Commissioners. This Act shall not apply to the
City of Annapolis.

279. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
shall not levy any sum for or contribute to the support of any
Volunteer Fire Department unless the same has been organized
with the approval and on the recommendation of the Board of
Fire Commissioners. This Act shall not apply to the City of
Annapolis.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws or portions
thereof inconsistent with the provisions of this Act be and they
