with the prior approval of the Bank Commissioner. Credit
Unions shall also be authorized to deposit or invest in shares
of any insured Building and Loan Association with the prior
approval of the Bank Commissioner.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

CHAPTER 667.

(House Bill 448)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
490 of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land and Baltimore City Charter (1938 Edition), title "Bal-
timore City", sub-title "Criers, Bailiffs, Watchmen and Ste-
nographers", as amended by Chapter 625 of the Acts of 1943,
increasing the compensation of the bailiffs in the several
courts and the bailiff assigned to the Jury Judge.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 490 of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland and Baltimore City Charter (1938 Edition),
title "Baltimore City", sub-title "Criers, Bailiffs, Watchmen
and Stenographers", as amended by Chapter 625 of the Acts
of 1943, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

490. The City Register shall pay to the bailiffs respec-
tively of the Superior Court of Baltimore City, of the Court of
Common Pleas of Baltimore City, of the Baltimore City Court,
of the Circuit Court of Baltimore City, of the Circuit Court
No. 2 of Baltimore City and of the Criminal Court of Balti-
more City the sum of two thousand eight hundred and seventy-
five dollars per annum and to the bailiff assigned to the Jury
Judge three thousand four hundred and fifty dollars per
annum as and for their respective salaries at the same time
and in the same manner as is provided in the preceding section
for the payment of the salaries of the crier of the Superior
Court, the crier of the Baltimore City Court and the crier of
the Court of Common Pleas of Baltimore City. Every bailiff,
who after having served not less than twenty preceding con-
secutive years or shall have become physically or mentally
incapacitated from performing the duties of bailiff from ail-
