sub-title "Sheriff", said section relating generally to the ap-
pointment and qualification of the Deputy Sheriff of Prince
George's County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 1282 of the Prince George's County Code
(1943 Edition, being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Prince George's County", sub-title
"Sheriff", be and it is hereby repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
take effect June 1st, 1945.

CHAPTER 573.
(House Bill 489)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 2
of Article 38 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1943 Sup-
plement), title "Fines and Forfeitures", providing for the
payment of fines to the county or city where the offense
occurred or the cause of action originated.

WHEREAS,, Article 24 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1939 Edition), requires the county from which a cause is
removed to pay the costs of trying said cause to the county to
which it was removed; and

WHEREAS, Article 38 of the Code, Section 2, provides that
fines be paid to the county or city where imposed; and

WHEREAS, since the county in which the cause originated is
required to pay the costs of trial, it should be entitled to the
fines imposed; therefore

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 2 of Article 38 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Fines and Forfeitures",
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

2. All fines, penalties and forfeitures, when recovered shall
be paid to the county or city where the offense occurred or
cause of action originated unless directed to be paid otherwise
by law imposing them.
