CHAPTER 419.
. (Senate Bill 444)
AN ACT to repeal Section 28 of Article 19 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1939 Ed. ), title "Comptroller, "
and to enact in lieu thereof a new Section, to be known
as Section 26 and to follow immediately after Section 25
of said Article; and to repeal Section 9 of Article 68 of
the Annotated Code of, Maryland (1939 Ed>, title "No-
taries Public, " and to enact in lieu thereof a new Section,
to be known as Section 9 and to follow immediately after
Section 8 of said Article, providing that the Comptroller
shall prescribe the forms to be used for protesting bills
of exchange and promissory notes, and making it un-
lawful for Notaries Public to sign and issue any protests
except in the form prescribed by the Comptroller.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 28 of Article 19 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Ed. ), title "Comptroller, " be and the same
is hereby repealed, and that a new Section be and it is
hereby enacted in lieu thereof, said new Section to be
known as Section 26, to follow immediately after Section.
25 of said Article, and to read as follows:
26. The Comptroller shall prescribe the forms to be
used for protesting bills of exchange and promissory notes,
which forms shall include the matters which are now or
may hereafter be specified in Article 13 of the Code.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That Section 9 of
Article 68 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Ed. ),
title "Notaries Public, " be and the same is hereby repealed,
and that a new Section be and it is hereby enacted in lieu
thereof, said new Section to be known as Section 9, to fol-
low immediately after Secti6n 8 of said Article, and to
read as follows:
9. It shall not be lawful for any notary public to sign
and issue any protest except in the form prescribed by the
Comptroller.
SEC. 3. And be if further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1945.
