CHAPTER 278.
(House Bill 340)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 90
of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County", sub-title "Fire
Companies", as said section was amended by Chapter 197 of
the Acts of 1939, relating to the use of the funds appropri-
ated by the County Commissioners of Wicomico County for
the volunteer fire companies in said County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 90 of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County",
sub-title "Fire Companies", as said section was amended by
Chapter 197 of the Acts of 1939, be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
90. The County Commissioners of Wicomico County are
hereby authorized to appropriate and levy annually the sum of
Eleven Thousand Dollars ($11, 000. 00), to be paid to the several
Volunteer Fire Companies in said County, in such amount or
amounts as the said County Commissioners, in their discretion,
shall determine, and to be used for the general maintenance
of said Volunteer Fire Companies in said County, including
the purchase and repairing of fire apparatus and all other
equipment of every kind and character; provided, however, that
no payments shall be made to any company or department
which has any resolutions or regulations limiting the terri-
tory within which it will respond to calls. Each Volunteer
Fire Company receiving any of the above funds shall submit
an annual report to said County Commissioners, giving a de-
tailed statement of the expenditures of said fund or funds, and
no payment shall be made to any Volunteer Fire Company
until it shall have submitted each report showing the expendi-
tures of said fund for the preceding year.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1st, 1945.
