age belonging to any such church, society or congregation,
to elect, at their discretion, certain, sober and discreet
persons, not less than four, nor more than sixteen, which
persons so elected, upon being registered, as hereinafter di-
rected, shall be constituted a body politic or corporate to act
as trustees in the name and behalf of the particular church,
society or congregation for which they are respectively chosen,
and to manage the estate, property, interest and inheritance
of the same.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1st, 1945.

CHAPTER 276.
(House Bill 311)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 22 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wash-
ington County", sub-title "Williamsport", said new section
to be known as Section 831A and to follow immediately
after Section 831 of said Article, relating to the sale of
property owned by the Mayor and Council of Williamsport.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Washington County", sub-title "Williamsport",
said new section to be known as Section 831 A, to follow imme-
diately after Section 831 of said Article, and to read as
follows:

831A. The Mayor and Council are hereby authorized to sell,
lease or dispose of any real, leasehold or other property
owned by the town when no longer needed for public use;
provided, however, that said Mayor and Council shall not have
the power and authority to sell or lease to any person, associa-
tion or corporation the light, water or sewer system of said
town or to sell any of the streets, highways or alleys of said
town without submitting the question of said sale to the quali-
fied voters of said town for approval or disapproval, and if the
majority of the said voters voting on said question shall be
