gomery County", sub-title "Circuit Court", to be under sub-
heading "Deputy Clerks of Court", said new section to be
known as Section 158A, and to follow immediately after
Section 158 of said Article, providing for the appointment of
deputy clerks by the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Mont-
gomery County to perform certain duties at Silver Spring
and Bethesda in said County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to the Code
of Public Local Laws of Montgomery County (1939 Edition—
being Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land), title "Montgomery County", sub-title "Circuit Court",
to be under sub-heading "Deputy Clerks of Court", said new
section to be known as Section 158A, to follow immediately
after Section 158 of said Article, and to read as follows:

158A. The Clerk of the Circuit Court for Montgomery
County shall deputize one or more clerks of said Court to serve
in the County Building at Silver Spring and Bethesda. Said
deputy clerks shall be employees of the County Government
serving in another capacity and shall receive such portion of
their salary as agreed upon by the Montgomery County Com-
missioners and the Clerk of the Court and hold office for such
period and under such working conditions as may be specified
by the said Clerk. They shall give bond to the State of Mary-
land, upon the same conditions and in the same manner as is
set by law for the clerks of the several circuit courts to give
bond, except that the amount of bond required from such
deputy clerks shall be as set by the State Comptroller.

It shall be the duty of said deputy clerks, upon request, to
issue any and all licenses which the Clerk of the Circuit Court
for Montgomery County may lawfully issue, for such purposes
and to such persons and in all respects as said Clerk may be
directed from time to time to issue same. The Clerk of the
Circuit Court shall supply each deputy clerk with such blank
forms and applications, and with such materials and supplies,
as may be necessary to accomplish the purposes of this section,
together with full instructions as to the manner of issuing all
licenses and of keeping all records. Each such deputy clerk
shall keep in his office such temporary or duplicate records as
the said clerk shall prescribe, but the original or main copies
of all records shall be sent to the said Clerk at Rockville,
where they shall be retained as provided by law, in all respects
as if the licenses therefor had been issued by the said Clerk.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1st, 1945.
