face of printing of all candidates' names and party designa-
tions.
(c) The titles of offices may be arranged horizontally or
vertically, with the names of candidates for an office arranged
transversely under or opposite the title of the office.
(d) The names of all candidates nominated or seeking
nomination by a political party shall appear in adjacent rows
or columns containing generally the names of candidates
nominated or seeking nomination by such party. In Primary
Elections the ballot-labels containing the names of candidates
seeking nomination by a particular party shall be segregated
on the face of the machine in adjacent rows or columns by
parties.
(e) If a candidate is named for the same office on two or
more certificates of nomination, his name shall be printed on
the ballot-label but once, and above the name of such candi-
date shall be added the name of whatever party name appearing
in said certificates of nomination the said candidate shall in
writing designate to the Board of Supervisors as the party
name which he desires to be added to his name on the ballot-
label.
(f) Questions to be voted upon including Constitutional
Amendments, Referenda and other propositions, shall appear
on the ballot-labels in the same manner as such questions ap-
pear upon paper ballots, except that such questions may ap-
pear at th top or side of the ballot-labels, and shall contain
a condensed statement of each question or proposition to be
voted upon, accompanied by the words "For" and "Against"
or by the words "Yes" and "No. "
83. The respective Boards of Supervisors of Elections may
rearrange, consolidate, subdivide or otherwise re-establish pre-
cinct or polling place boundaries for the purpose of establish-
ing polling places best suited in their judgment for the use of
voting machines. At least one voting machine shall be furnished
for each unit of five hundred voters and an additional machine
for every fractional part of such unit. In polling places where
voting machines are used, the elections shall be conducted by
the four judges of election and no clerks of election shall be
appointed; provided, however, that in polling places where the
Supervisors do not have available or are unable to procure vot-
ing machines, paper ballots may be used, in which case the
election shall be conducted in all respects as provided in this
Article for elections held by paper ballots, including the ap-
pointment of clerks of election.
84. (a) Each Board of Supervisors of Elections shall ap-
