HERBERT R. O'CONOR, GOVERNOR. 1465

It shall be the duty of said officers of registration to protect
and keep safe said registry books, and the Supervisors shall
designate two of said officers appointed from different political
parties, each of whom shall be charged with the custody of one
of said books during the intervals between the sessions of the
board of registry until the return of said books to the Super-
visors of Elections, as hereinafter provided. Whenever in the
opinion of the Board of Supervisors of Elections in any county
it becomes necessary to rewrite any of the registration books
because said books have become so worn or the lettered sub-
divisions thereof have become so filled with names that their
future use is not practicable, the names of all persons regis-
tered on such books, except those of persons known to the
Supervisors to have died, removed or become disqualified, shall
under the supervision and direction of the Board of Supervisors
be transcribed on new registration books or cards or loose-leaf
pages to be provided by the said Board. If (b) cards or loose-
leaf pages are used, they shall contain substantially the same
information applicable to registry books as provided in this
section. Such cards or loose-leaf pages and any binders, filing
cabinets or cases shall be acquired, protected, maintained, and
used in conformity with the provisions of this Article.

14. A person now registered as a qualified voter in the City
of Baltimore or in any county shall not be required to register
again unless such registration shall be cancelled as hereinafter
provided.

15. On the Tuesday preceding any primary election and on
the Tuesdays five and four weeks, respectively, preceding any
general election, each Board of Registry in the respective coun-
ties shall meet at the place designated by the Board of Super-
visors of Elections and shall proceed to make a registration of
all the persons in its precincts or districts, as the case may be,
who have not previously registered and who may be entitled to
vote at the next general election and shall present themselves
before said Board of Registry for registration; and such person
or persons so registered shall be entitled to vote at all primary
and general elections held thereafter unless such registration
shall be cancelled as hereinafter provided. The proceedings of
each Board of Registry shall be as follows:

(1) The hours of session shall be from 9 o'clock A. M. until
9 o'clock P. M.; provided, however, that the Board of Super-
visors of Elections in any county may provide that the registry
shall open not later than 10 o'clock A. M. or earlier than 8
o'clock A. M. and shall close not earlier than 7 o'clock P. M.
giving notice of such hours of opening and closing the registry
as hereinbefore provided in Section 10 of this Article.
