01 MAINTENANCE AND RECONSTRUCTION (Two
Cent (2c) Gasoline Tax and Income from Depart-
ment of Motor Vehicles) :

From the net receipts of the Two Cent (2c) Gasoline

.Tax, after refund exemptions, but before the other .
deductions as hereinafter provided, there shall be set
aside in a special account for each year, that sum
resulting from one and four-tenths mills ($.0014) of
the Two Cent (2c) Gasoline Tax, for Debt Service,
as provided by Sections 147-A to 147-F, both in-
clusive, of Article 89-B, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), as said sections were en-
acted by Chapter 884 of the Acts of 1941 (which
fund is in this Budget hereinafter specifically dedi-
cated). There is then to be deducted one-half (%)
of the cost of maintaining the Gasoline Tax Collec-
tion Department in the office of the State1 Comp-
troller. From the then remainder of the Two Cent
(2c) Tax, there shall be allotted Seventy Percent
(70%) of the Tax to the State Roads Commission.

From the net total receipts from the Department of
Motor Vehicles, after refunds, but before any other
deductions as hereinafter provided, there shall be
set aside in a special fund for the use of the State
Roads Commission in each of the years, that sum
representing income derived from Truck License
Fees and Franchise Taxes, which sum is to be ap-
plied in accordance with the provisions of Sections
147-A to 147-F, both inclusive, of Article 89-B, of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), as
said sections were enacted by Chapter 884, of the
Acts of 1941 (which fund is in this budget herein-
after specifically dedicated). From the remainder
of income derived from the Department of Motor
Vehicles, exclusive of Truck License Fees and
Franchise Taxes, and from the Income from the
Traffic Court, first there are to be deducted the ex-
penses, being the Budget Appropriations to the De-
partment of the Maryland State Police, and the
Budget Appropriations to the Traffic Court. From
the remainder, there is allotted to the State Roads
Commission, Seventy Percent (70%) of all incomes,
except Fines and Forfeitures, and from the latter
net income, there is to be allotted Eighty Percent
(80%) to the State Roads Commission.
