the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 814.
(House Bill 552)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 3 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Balti-
more County", said new section to be known as Section
123B, to follow immediately after Section 123A of said
Article, and to be under a new sub-title ^Constables", relat-
ing generally to the appointment, duties and fees of con-
stables, other than constables at large in Baltimore County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be added to Article 3 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Balti-
more County", said new section to be known as Section 123B,
to follow immediately after Section 123A of said Article; to
be under a new sub-title "Constables", and to read as follows:

CONSTABLES.

123B. In addition to the Constables at large, appointed by
the County Commissioners of Baltimore County under the
provisions of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1939 Edition), said County Commissioners are hereby author-
ized and empowered to appoint such number of additional
constables in each election district of Baltimore County as,
in their discretion, may be deemed necessary by said County
Commissioners. Said Constables shall be required to perform
such investigative and other duties as may now or hereafter
be required of them by any provisions of local or general law,
or any ordinance or resolution of the County Commissioners
of Baltimore County, including investigation and check of all
places in Baltimore County required to secure a license for
the transaction of business. Said constables shall have the
power of arrest and shall receive such fees or payment as may
be authorized by the particular law whose directions they
shall perform or, in case there be no fee or payment set by
law, then such compensation as the County Commissioners
of Baltimore County may from time to time authorize.
