SEC.

EASTERN SHORE— To carry into effect the 8th

section of chapter 395, of 1835, by

which one million of dollars was

appropriated to the Eastern Shore

Railroad Company, (of which the

sum of $152, 764 14 was only ex-

pended in the construction of said

Eastern Shore Railroad Company, )

and if a sufficiency of stock should

not be otherwise subscribed to com-

mence said road, then the said sum

was set apart, and the faith of the

State pledged that it should be ap-

plied to the exclusive purpose of in-

ternal improvements on the, &c.,

The unexpended balance ($847, 235 14)

of the said million of dollars, ap-

propriated and distributed rateably

to the several counties on the, for

works of internal improvement, upon

the basis of the levy on the assessed

property of said counties, for the

year 1859,

Presidents of the several companies to

inform Governor, by affidavit, that

bona fide subscriptions to the capital

stock of said companies have been

obtained, equal to the subscriptions

in this Act authorised on the part of

the State, when the Treasurer shall

be authorised to make the subscrip-

tion authorized on the part of the

State,
