ny of Baltimore city aforesaid, is incorporated, and
which said company are hereby authorised to effect
are building or constructing and using or renting
or leasing a first class Hotel, and furnishing the
said Hotel in the most improved method for the ac-
commodation of travelers and citizens generally, at,
near to or in the vicinity of the Camden street sta-
tion of the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road company,
and to keep and cause to be kept said Hotel in the
best possible order for the reception and accommo-
dation of the entire traveling community and citi-
zens generally.

CHAP. 348.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the president and
directors of said Merchants' Hotel company of Bal-
timore city, shall have power to issue bonds or cer-
tificates of indebtedness, under the seal of said com-
pany in such sum or sums not less than twenty-five
dollars each, and not exceeding in amount the sum
of one hundred thousand dollars as the said compa-
ny may prefer, and to sell and dispose of the same
upon such terms as to said company may seem pro-
per, and pledge the property and profits of said
company to secure the payment thereof, and also
with power to convert the bonds so issued into capi-
tal stock of said company, upon such terms as may
be agreed upon between the holder or holders of
said bonds and said president and directors.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the said president
and directors, or their agent or agents, authorised by
them, may agree with the owner or owners of any-
land, earth, building materials or any improve-
ments which may be wanted for the use or construc-
tion. of their hotel, for the purchase or use and occu-
pation of the same, and if they cannot agree, or if
the owner or owners or any of them be an. infant,
feme covert, non compos mentis, or out of the coun-
ty where such property wanted may lie, when such
property may be wanted, application may be made
to any justice of the peace of Baltimore city, who
shall thereupon issue his warrant under his hand
and seal to the sheriff of Baltimore city, requiring
him to summon a jury of twenty of the inhabitants
not related to the parties, nor in any wise interested,
to meet on the lands, buildings, materials, lots or
other property which may be wanted, on a day
named in said warrant, not less than ten nor more
than twenty days after issuing the same, and if at
the said time and place any of the said jurors sum-
