CHAP. 274.

the affairs of the said corporation; Provided, they
be not contrary to law.

Requirement.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That no subscriber
for stock in said company, shall be entitled to vote
for president or director of said company, without
paying one dollar on each share of stock subscribed
for by him.

Instalments.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the sums sub-
scribed to the stock of said company, shall be paid
to the president and directors in the manner and in
such instalments and at such times as the said
president and directors shall direct, they giving at
least one month's public notice of the time, when
such payments will be required.

Width of
road.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That the said com-
pany when organized, may proceed to turnpike the
said road upon the line hereinbefore prescribed, and
the said turnpike road shall be the same in width
as the present public road, so far as the said public
road shall be used, and when any land other than
the present public road shall be used, the said turn-
pike road shall not be less than sixteen and one-
half feet wide; and the portion of the public road turn-
piked, shall also be sixteen and a half feet wide.

Examiners.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That as soon as the
said company shall have completed three miles of
the lower end of the said road, they may apply to
the county commissioners of Baltimore county, for
the appointment of three persons not stockholders
in said company, as commissioners to examine and
receive the said road, and upon the report of the
said commissioners or a majority of them, that the
said road has been properly made, is in good travel-

ing order, and in all respects constructed conform-
ably to this act, the said county commissioners
shall issue a license to the said company, to erect a
toll gate on the said turnpike road, on such part
thereof as the said company may deem proper, at
which shall be charged such tolls as are hereinafter
provided for, and appoint a toll gatherer to receive
the same.

Rates of toll.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That the said com-
pany shall be entitled to charge and receive the
following tolls on said road: for every horse, mule,
