CHAP. 229.

CHAPTER 228.

7, 1860.

AN ACT to amend the Code of Public Local Laws
of Caroline county relating to schools, by adding
thereto the following sections:

SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
of Maryland, That the trustees of primary schools
numbers one and four, in election district number
one, in Caroline county, be, and they are hereby,
authorized and empowered to use and appropriate
the charity school fund of said schools, or so much
thereof as may be necessary for the purpose of build-
ing a new school-house in each of said school dis-
tricts.

In force.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from its passage.

CHAPTER 229.

7, 1860.

AN ACT to amend the eighth article of the Code
of Public Local Laws, by adding thereto the fol-
lowing sections, giving to the president and com-
missioners of the village of Port Deposit power to
pave the streets and borrow money on the credit
of the corporation.

streets, pave,
&c.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the president and commissioners
of the village of Port Deposit shall have full power
to pave the streets of said village, and may assess
and levy the expenses thereof upon the tax payers
of said village generally, or may assess and levy
the same on the owners of the property fronting on
the street to be paved rateably according to the
number of feet front they may respectively own on
such streets, but when the property so fronting is
unimproved and yields no rent or income to the
owner, the tax for such paving shall be levied gene-
rally on the tax payers of the village.

May borrow
money.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said presi-
dent and commissioners may borrow on the faith of
