CHAPTER 110.

CHAP. 110.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assembly
by the petition of sundry inhabitants of Talbot
and Caroline counties, that the convenience of the
public would be greatly promoted by erecting a
bridge over Choptank river, at or near Dover
Ferry; therefore,

23, 1860.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the subscribers or proprietors of
shares for building said bridge, as well as those
who may hereafter become stockholders, their suc-
cessors and assigns, shall be and are hereby created
and made a corporation and body politic, by the
name and style of the president and directors of
the Dover Bridge Company, and by that name
shall be and are hereby enabled and made capable,
either in law or equity, to sue and be sued, plead
and be impleaded, answer and be answered, defend
and be defended, in any court or place whatever,
and also to make, have, and use a common seal,
and the same to break, alter, and renew at their
pleasure, and also to ordain and establish such by-
laws, rules, and regulations as shall be deemed
necessary and proper for the government thereof.

Incorporated.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the capital stock
of said company is hereby declared to be the sum
of ten thousand dollars, to be divided into one
thousand shares of ten dollars each, and the presi-
dent and directors of said company, who shall
always be stockholders, after the first annual elec-
tion, which shall be on the first Monday of May,
eighteen hundred and sixty, on the same day in
each and every year thereafter, be and they are
hereby authorised and directed to open subscriptions
for such shares of the aforesaid sum of ten thousand
dollars as have not been subscribed, giving thirty
days notice of the time, place and terms upon
which said subscription shall be received.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the building,
superintendence and management of said bridge,
shall be conducted by a president and six directors,
and that there shall be an election of seven direc-
tors, by ballot, at Easton, on the said first Monday
of May, eighteen hundred and sixty, and on the
