SECTIONS (G), (O) AND (V) OF SECTION 37B OF
ARTICLE 87 OF THE Annotated Code of Maryland (1947
Supplement), title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation and
Duties", Sub-section (g) having been amended by Chapter
72 of the Acts of the Special Session of 1948, increasing the
salary and expense allowance of the Sheriff and Deputy
Sheriffs of Cecil County and the salary and expense allow-
ance of the Sheriff of Montgomery County, AND INCREAS-
ING THE SALARY OF THE SHERIFF OF WICOMICO
COUNTY.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

TION 37B OF ARTICLE 87 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1947 Supplement), title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Compen-
sation and Duties", Sub-section (g) having been amended by
Chapter 72 of the Act of the Special Session of 1948, be and
they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:
37B.
(g) The Sheriff of Cecil County shall receive an annual
salary of [$3,000] $3,500 and [$600] $900 for expenses. The
Sheriff shall appoint a Chief Deputy who shall receive an
annual salary of f 2,100 and another Deputy who shall receive
an annual salary of $1,800.00 and each of said Deputies shall
receive [$600] $900 annually for traveling and other ex-
penses.
(o) The Sheriff of Montgomery County shall receive an
annual salary of $3,000 and [$600 per year for operation of
automobile and $400 per year for the term of said Sheriff,
the total of which may be furnished the Sheriff when his
term commences or when the County Commissioners see fit,
for the purchase of an automobile to be used by the Sheriff
or his deputies for the general public work of the office, which
automobile shall be maintained by the Sheriff without any
cost to the County, and $600 annually for the operation of
said automobile. He shall appoint such deputies at such
compensation as is provided by Public General or Public
Local Laws] $1,000 per year for the operation of an auto-
mobile effective from January 1, 1950, and $1,200 per year
effective from January 1, 1950, for the remainder of the term
of said Sheriff, the total of which may "be furnished the Sheriff
by the County Council at any time during his term, for the
purchase of an automobile to be used by the Sheriff or his
deptities for the general public work of the office, which auto-
