sity for such appointment shall occur. If for any reason
any person or persons drawn as a grand juror or grand
jurors shall fail to attend and be present at the conclu-
sion of the drawing or be disqualified or excused for cause
the court shall forthwith proceed to fill such vacancies
from the aforesaid remaining number of twenty-five names
of those who are present in the order in which the names
were drawn from the box and may thereupon in its discre-
tion fill such vacancy or vacancies thus made in the petit
jury by drawing the necessary number of additional
names therefor in manner provided by Section 8 of this
Article. This section is modified as to Prince George's
County and Talbot County. This section shall not apply to
Baltimore County, as to which special provision is made by
the local law therefor.

10A. The Court may, in its discretion, excuse any one
or more of those selected as petit jurors as described in
Section 10, and rebuild said panel to the number of 25 by
drawing a name or names from the box or boxes which
contained the one, or those, excused; and, when, in the
Court's discretion, any panel of petit jurors shall have
served as such for a reasonable period of time, it may ex-
cuse said panel from further service and draw from the
jury box, in approximately the same ratio as described
above, another panel which shall serve until excused by
the Court, or until the beginning of the next jury term.
In any County where provision is made for summoning
more than one panel of petit jurors in any court term, the
court may summon one or more panels of each petit jurors
to serve simultaneously during such term.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is here-
by declared to be an acute emergency measure and neces-
sary for the immediate preservation of the public health
and safety and having been passed by a yea and nay vote,
supported by three-fifths of all the members elected to
each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the same
shall take effect from the date of its passage.
