for the immediate preservation of the public health and
safety, and having been passed by a yea and nay vote,
supported by three-fifths of all the members elected to
each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the same
shall take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tion 7 (8) of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1947 Supplement), title "Revenue and Taxes,"
sub-title "Ordinary Taxes, What shall be Taxed and
Where," increasing the exemption for the ground ap-
purtenant to educational institutions.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted l)y the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 7(8) of Article 81 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Revenue and
Taxes," sub-title "Ordinary Taxes, What Shall be Taxed
and Where," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

(8). Buildings, furniture, equipment and libraries of
educational or literary institutions, no part of the net
income of which inures to the benefit of any private share-
holder or individual, and the ground, not exceeding (out-
side of any city) [forty] one hundred acres in area, ap-
purtenant thereto, and necessary for the respective uses
thereof.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1950.
