Maryland and Baltimore City Charter (1949 Edition), title
"Baltimore City," sub-title "Mortgages," be and the same are
hereby repealed.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1950.

CHAPTER 13

(Senate Bill 17)

AN ACT to add a new Article to the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition and 1947 Supplement), to be
known as Article 890, "Support of Dependents", authoriz-
ing and prescribing the procedure for civil proceedings to
compel the support of dependents.

SECTION 1. Be It enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new Article be and it is hereby added to the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition and 1947 Sup-
plement), to be known as Article 89C, "Support of Depen-
dents", and to read as follows:

Article 890
Support of Dependents

1. (Short title; purpose.) This Article may be cited and
referred to as the Uniform Support of Dependents Law.

The purpose of this uniform law is to secure support in
civil proceedings for dependents as herein defined from per-
sons legally responsible for their support.

2. (Definitions.) As used in this Article, unless the con-
text shall require otherwise, the following terms shall have
the meanings ascribed to them by this section:

(a) "State" shall mean and include any state and territory
of the United States and the District of Columbia.

(b) "Court" shall mean and include a family court, domes-
tic relations court, children's court, municipal court and any
