Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Administra-
tion—Registration—Titling", Section 94 thereof having
been amended by Chapter 39 of the Acts of 1949 and Sec-
tion 99 thereof having been amended by Chapter 323 of
the Acts of 1949, relating to the refusal, revocation or sus-
pension of operators' or chauffeurs' licenses following con-
victions for violations of the provisions of the motor ve-
hicle laws under said Article 66 1/2, for persons under the
age of twenty-one, and to appeals from violations of the
motor vehicle laws by any person.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sub-sections (a) and (b) of Section 85 and Sec-
tions 87, 94 and 99 of Article 66 1/2 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles", sub-
title "Administration—Registration—Titling", Section 94
having been amended by Chapter 39 of the Acts of 1949 and
Section 99 having been amended by Chapter 323 of the Acts
of 1949, be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

85.

(a) (Application of Minors.) The application of any per-
son under the age of [eighteen (18] twenty-one (21) years
for an instruction permit or operator's or chauffeur's license
shall be signed and verified, before a person authorized to
administer oaths, by a parent or guardian of the applicant
and if there be no parent or guardian, then by an employer
of such minor, and if there be no parent, guardian or em-
ployer then by a responsible person who is willing to assume
the obligation imposed under this Article upon a person
signing the application of a minor. The Department shall
clearly set forth on the application the responsibilities as-
sumed under this section.

(b) Any negligence of a minor under the age of [eighteen
(18)] twenty-one (21) years when driving a motor vehicle
upon a highway IN this State shall be imputed to the person
who has signed the application of such minor for a permit or
license, and that person shall be jointly and severally liable
with such minor for any damages cause by such negligence
except as otherwise provided in the next succeeding para-
graph.

87. (Suspension of License Upon Death of Person Signing
Minor's Application.) The Department upon receipt of satis-
factory evidence of the death of the person who signed the
application of a minor for a license shall suspend such license
