Messrs. Tyler and Preston escorted the Speaker pro-tem to the
rostrum.

Under House Rule No. 83, the Chief Clerk administered the oath
of office to the Speaker pro-tem.

The Speaker pro-tem next called for nominations for the office
of Speaker of the House of Delegates for the Special Session of
1950.

Whereupon, Mr. LeRoy Pumphrey, of Prince George's County,
nominated Mr. C. Ferdinand Sybert, of Howard County, which
nomination was seconded by Mr. Thommen, of the Sixth District
of Baltimore City.

There being no further nominations for Speaker for the Special
Session of 1950, the Hon. C. Ferdinand Sybert, of Howard County,
was elected Speaker by yeas and nays as follows:

The newly elected Speaker was escorted to the rostrum by the
Hon. LeRoy Pumphrey and Jacob Ramsburg.

The Speaker pro-tem administered the oath of office to the Hon.
C. Ferdinand Sybert as Speaker for the Special Session of 1950.

The newly elected Speaker then addressed the House requesting
speedy adoption of the emergency measures to be introduced.
