to a point one hundred yards west of the corner known as Mat
Green's Corner "or by whatever name it may be known", being
an intersection of the road leading from Goldsboro to Ingle-
side with the Goldsboro-Sandtown road thence south to the
northwest corner of certain lots owned by Edwin Smith,
known as the Mill lots; thence along the southeast line of
these lots in a straight line until it intersects the said rail-
road land, "this line being a continuation of the last men-
tioned line"; thence at right angle with the said railroad one
hundred and eleven yards to a point where it intersects the
County road leading from Goldsboro to Greensboro; thence
in a straight line parallel with the railroad track a northerly
direction to the place of beginning; provided that said Com-
missioners may extend the limits of the town (in any direc-
tion) by ordinance, provided the same shall not include more
than five hundred acres.

242. The next election for Town Commissioners shall be
held on May 7, 1949, and the present Town Commissioners
shall appoint three judges of the said elections, and in case
any of said judges named shall be disqualified to act by sick-
ness, death or otherwise, then the remaining judge or judges
shall fill the vacancy by appointing suitable person or persons
from within the limits of the said town who are duly qualified
voters, in accordance with this Act.

243. All persons who have resided in said town for one
year prior to the day of election and who are qualified in all
respects to vote for Delegates to the General Assembly from
Caroline County, shall be qualified voters at all town elec-
tions, and shall vote for and elect by ballot five persons, resi-
dents and qualified voters, as Commissioners of Goldsboro, to
serve for two years therefrom, or until their successors are
duly elected and qualified at the town elections to be held on
the first Saturday in May annually hereafter, between the
hours of two and five o'clock P. M. at such places as the Com-
missioners of said Town shall designate. However, at the town
election to be held on May 7, 1949, the two persons receiving
the highest number of votes for Town Commissioners of Golds-
boro shall be elected to a two year term, and the three persons
receiving the next highest vote shall be elected for a one year
term. On the first Saturday in May in each even numbered
year thereafter, three persons shall be elected to hold office as
Town Commissioners for two years and until their successors
are duly elected and qualified; and on the first Saturday in
May in each odd numbered year thereafter, two persons shall
be elected to hold office as Town Commissioners for two years
and until their successors are duly elected and qualified.

244. The Commissioners, or a majority of them, shall be
judges of said election, or they may appoint any three voters
