CHAPTER 702.
(House Bill 143)
AN ACT to add one new section to Article 4 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland and Baltimore City Charter
(1938 Edition), title "Baltimore City, " sub-title "Police
Commissioner, Organization of Force, " said new section to
be known as Section &76A and to follow immediately after
Section 876 of said Article, providing for an increase in pay
for all Baltimore City Police Department employees.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 4
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland and Baltimore
City Charter (1938 Edition), title "Baltimore City, " sub-title
"Police Commissioner, Organization of Force, " said new sec-
tion to be known as Section 876A, to follow immediately after
Section 876 of said Article, and to read as follows:
876A. For the period June 1, 1943 to June 1, 1945, each
employee of the Police Department of Baltimore City on
active duty or service shall, in addition to any other compen-
sation provided by law, receive as added compensation, an
amount equal to the sum of
(1) 15% of the first two thousand dollars ($2, 000) of such
employee's base pay, plus
(2) 10% of such part of the base pay of such employee as
is in excess of two thousand dollars ($2, 000) and less
than three thousand dollars ($3, 000), plus
(3) 5% of such part of the base pay of such employee as
is in excess of three thousand dollars ($3, 000).
For the period June 1, 1943, to June 1, 1945, each retired
employee of the Police Department of Baltimore City, in
addition to the retirement pay being received by such retired
employee, shall receive as added compensation, each month
during which he is not at any time gainfully employed, an
amount equal to one-twelfth of the sum of
(1) 15% of the first $2, 000 of the annual retirement pay
of such retired employee, plus
(2) 10% of such part of the annual retirement pay of such
retired employee as is in excess of $2, 000 and less than
$3, 000, plus
(3) 5% of such part of the annual retirement pay of such
retired employee as is in excess of $3, 000.
