151A. The County Commissioners; of Kent County are
hereby authorized and directed to pay in each and every
year, the sum of One Thousand ($1000. 00) dollars to the
Betterton Volunteer Fire Company, the sum of One Thou-
sand Dollars ($1, 000), to the Millington Volunteer Fire
Company, the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1, 000. 00) to
the Galena Volunteer Fire Company, the sum of Two Thou-
sand Dollars ($2, 000) to the Chestertown Volunteer Fire
Company and the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1, 000) to
the Bock Hall Volunteer Fire Company and the said County
Commissioners are authorized to levy yearly upon the
assessable property of Kent County; a rate of tax suffi-
cient to produce the sum or sums so to be annually paid
to the said fire companies.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1943.

CHAPTER 81.
(Senate Bill 99)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
191A of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1939 Edition), title "Public Education7', sub-title "Chapter
17. High Schools", as said section was enacted by Chapter
150 of the Acts of 1941, relating to the issuance of certifi-
cates equivalent to high school certificates.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 191A of Article 77 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Public Education", sub-
title "Chapter 17. High Schools", as said section was enacted
by Chapter 150 of the Acts of 1941, be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
191 A. (a) Any person who has not obtained a high school
certificate or diploma and who has resided in Maryland for at
least one year and (1) who is 19 years of age or older, or (2)
who is a member of the armed forces of the United States and
is 17 years of age or older, may obtain an equivalent certificate
in accordance with this section.
