in said ordinance. In addition to the aforegoing the City
Register shall perform such other duties pertaining to the
proper administration of his office as may be required of him
by ordinance of the city. In the event of any wilful neglect
of duty, or in case of any misconduct, misbehavior or mal-
feasance in office, upon conviction thereof in the Circuit Court
of Frederick County, or in any other court having jurisdiction
in the premises, his office shall be deemed to be vacant, and
said Board of Aldermen shall thereupon appoint some other
person having the qualifications hereinbefore prescribed for
the office of City Register, to fill out the unexpired term of
the person so convicted. The term of office of the person so
elected City Register shall begin on the first Monday next after
his election and he shall continue in office until his successor
in office is duly elected and qualified.
(e) The Mayor and Aldermen of Frederick is hereby author-
ized to provide by ordinance for the appointment of an assistant
to the City Register, to prescribe his powers and duties, to pay
him such compensation as it shall think proper, and to require
him to execute and deliver to it a bond to the State of Maryland
for the use of The Mayor and Aldermen of Frederick for the
faithful performance of his duties in such penalty and upon
such conditions as it shall think proper, with good and suffi-
cient surety or sureties to be approved by the Board of Alder-
men. The premium on said bond shall be paid by the city and
the bond shall be recorded in the office of the Clerk of the
Circuit Court for Frederick County. The assistant to the City
Register shall be appointed by the Mayor subject to the ap-
proval of the Board of Aldermen.
SEC, 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 14th, 1943.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
221E, 221G and 221H of Article 11 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), ' title "Frederick
County", sub-title "Frederick City", sub-heading '"City Con-
stables", as said sections were enacted by Chapter 157 of the
Acts of 1941, relating to the police force of Frederick City.
