CHAPTER 562.
(House Bill 570)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
225 of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County, " sub-
title "Revenue and Taxes, " sub-heading "County Treasurer, "
as said section was amended by Chapter 144 of the Acts of
1935, relating to the compensation of the Deputy County
Treasurer.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted 'by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 225 of Article 23 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico
County, " sub-title "Revenue and Taxes, " sub-heading "County
Treasurer, " as said section was amended by Chapter 144, of
the Acts of 1935, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

225. The Treasurer shall appoint a deputy, who shall per-
form such duties as said Treasurer shall require and for
whose official conduct said Treasurer shall be responsible and
who in the absence of the Treasurer shall act in his place.
Said deputy shall receive a salary not to exceed Eighteen
Hundred (f 1, 800) dollars per annum, payable by the County
Commissioners of Wicomico County in monthly installments
for every year he may serve as such deputy, or pro rata for
a part thereof.

If it shall become necessary to employ other Clerk or Clerks
in said office, the Treasurer, by and with the consent of the
County Commissioners, may employ same at a salary or sal-
aries to be fixed by said Commissioners. The Treasurer shall
be responsible for the official conduct of such Clerk or Clerks
so appointed by him.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1943.
