CHAPTER 479.
(House Bill 87)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments. Section 4
of Article 38 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition), title "Fines and Forfeitures", relating to imprison-
ment for the non-payment of fines and costs.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 4 of Article 38 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Fines and Forfeitures", be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

4. Any person who shall or may hereafter be committed to
jail on any charge, including contempt of court, by the judg-
ment of any court or by any Justice of the Peace of this State,
for non-payment of any fine and costs, shall be confined one
day for each dollar of fine and costs but in no event shall be
confined more than thirty days for fine and costs amounting
to one hundred dollars, nor more than sixty days for fine and
costs exceeding one hundred dollars but not more than five
hundred dollars, nor more than ninety days for fine and costs
exceeding five hundred dollars.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1943.

CHAPTER 480.
(House Bill 91)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
125 of Article 16 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition), title "Chancery", sub-title "Non Compos Mentis",
authorizing the courts to order or decree the sale of real
estate of non compos mentis after appointment of committee
or trustee under said section.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 125 of Article 16 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Chancery, " sub-title "Non
Compos Mentis, " be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
