his hands for the county, and the faithful performance of other
duties devolving upon him; such bonds to be approved as
bonds of the sheriffs of the respective counties of this State are
approved and to be recorded in the office of the Clerk of the
Circuit Court for St. Mary's County, and a copy of said State
bond shall be forwarded to the State Comptroller as soon as
the original shall have been recorded, as above required.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1943.

CHAPTER 285.
(House Bill 416)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 55
of Article 19 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "St. Mary's County", sub-title "County
Commissioners", relating to the compensation of the Clerk
to the County Commissioners.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 55 of Article 19 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "St. Mary's County",
sub-title "County Commissioners", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
55. The County Commissioners shall elect by a majority
vote a clerk to said board who shall serve as such for a term
of two years and until his successor is elected and qualified.
The County Commissioners are hereby authorized to fix the
compensation of said clerk at not less than One Thousand
($1, 000) Dollars nor more than Eighteen Hundred ($1, 800)
Dollars per year.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1943.
