emit an unreasonably loud or harsh sound or a whistle. The
driver of a motor vehicle shall when reasonably necessary to
insure safe operation give audible warning with his horn, but
shall not otherwise use such horn when upon a highway.

(b) No vehicle shall be equipped with nor shall any person
use upon a vehicle any siren, whistle, or bell, except as other-
wise permitted in this sub-section. It is permissible that any
vehicle be equipped with a theft alarm signal device which is
so arranged that it cannot be used by the driver as an ordinary
warning signal. Any authorized emergency vehicle may be
equipped with a siren, whistle or bell, capable of emitting
sound audible under normal conditions from a distance of not
less than 500 feet and of a type approved by the Department,
but such siren shall not be used except when such vehicle is
operated in response to an emergency call or in the immediate
pursuit of an actual or suspected violator of the law, in which
said latter events the driver of such vehicle shall sound said
siren when necessary to warn pedestrians and other drivers of
the approach thereof.

235. MUFFLERS, PREVENTION OF NOISE. Every motor ve-
hicle shall at all times be equipped with a muffler in good
working order and in constant operation to prevent excessive
or unusual noise and annoying smoke, and no person shall use
a muffler cutout, bypass or similar device upon a motor vehicle
on a highway.

236'. MIRRORS. Every motor vehicle shall be equipped with
a mirror so located as to reflect to the driver a view of the
highway for a distance of at least 200 feet to the rear of such
vehicle.

237. WINDSHIELDS MUST BE UNOBSTRUCTED AND EQUIPPED
WITH WIPERS, (a) No person shall drive any motor vehicle
with any sign, poster or other nontransparent material upon
the front windshield or sidewings of such vehicle other than a
certificate or other paper required to be so displayed by law.

(b) The windshield on every motor vehicle shall be equipped
with a device for cleaning rain, snow or other moisture from
the windshield, which device shall be so constructed as to be
controlled or operated by the driver of the vehicle.

Violation of Sections 232 to 237 inclusive shall be deemed
to be a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punishable
by a fine of One (f 1. 00) dollar to One Hundred (f 100. 00)
dollars.

238. EMBLEMS AND SIGNS. It shall be unlawful for any
person to display upon a motor vehicle the insignia or em-
