intersection and yield the right of way to vehicles approaching
on the intersecting highway except when directed to proceed
by a peace officer or traffic control signal.
188. STOP BEFORE EMERGING FROM ALLEY OR PRIVATE
DRIVEWAY. The driver of a vehicle emerging from an alley,
private driveway, or building shall come to a full stop immedi-
ately prior to driving onto a sidewalk or into the sidewalk area
extending across any alleyway or private driveway.
189. STOPPING, STANDING, OR PARKING OUTSIDE OF BUSI-
NESS OR RESIDENCE DISTRICTS, (a) Upon any highway out-
side of a business or residence district no person shall stop,
park, or leave standing any vehicle, whether attended or un-
attended, upon the paved or improved or main traveled part
of the highway when it is practical to stop, park, or so leave
such vehicle off such part of said highway, but in every event
a clear and unobstructed width of at least twelve (12) feet
of such part of the highway opposite such standing vehicle
shall be left "f or the free passage of other vehicles and a clear
view of such stopped vehicle be available from a distance of
200 feet in each direction upon such highway.
(b) This section shall not apply to the driver of any vehicle
which is disabled while on the paved or improved or main
traveled portion of a highway in such manner and to such ex-
tent that it is impossible to avoid stopping and temporarily
leaving such disabled vehicle in such position.
190. STOPPING, STANDING, OR PARKING PROHIBITED IN SPECI-
FIED PLACES, (a) Except where any city, county or other
municipal sub-division of the State shall have provided or shall
thereafter provide by any local laws, ordinance or regulation,
no person shall stop, stand, or park a vehicle, except when
necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance
with the directions of a peace officer or traffic control device,
in any of the following places:
1. On a sidewalk;
2. In front of a public driveway; in front of a private drive-
way, except with the consent of the owner or occupant of the
premises;
3. Within an intersection;
4. Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant;
5. On a cross walk, or within twenty (20) feet of a cross
walk at an intersection except for the purpose of receiving or
discharging passengers or merchandise;
