The Clerks of the Circuit Courts of the several counties of
the State, shall be entitled to receive respectively, the annual
salaries hereinafter set forth and no more, as follows:
The Clerk of the Circuit Court of Calvert County shall be
entitled to receive the annual salary of $3, 500.
The Clerks of the Circuit Courts of Dorchester, Kent, St.
Mary's, Harford, Caroline, Somerset, Frederick, Queen Anne's,
Worcester, Talbot, Howard, Wicomico and Charles Counties,
shall each be entitled to receive the annual salary of f 3, 600.
The Clerk of the Circuit Court of Garrett County shall be
entitled to receive the annual salary of $4, 000.
The Clerk of the Circuit Court of Carroll County shall be
entitled to receive the annual salary of $4, 200.
The Clerk of the Circuit Court of Baltimore County shall be
entitled to receive the annual salary of $4, 800.
The Clerks of the Circuit Courts of Anne Arundel, Washing-
ton and Allegany Counties shall each be entitled to receive the
annual Salaries of $4, 800.
The Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cecil County shall be
entitled to receive the annual salary of $5, 000,
The Clerks of the Circuit Courts of Montgomery and Prince
George's Counties shall each be entitled to receive the annual
salaries of $5, 400.
The salary first fixed by the Board of Public Works for the
Clerks of the Circuit Courts of Baltimore City and the salaries
fixed by this section for the Clerks of the Circuit Courts of the
several counties of the State, shall commence as of the be-
ginning of the term of office of the present incumbents and
shall not be increased or decreased during the term of office of
any incumbent.
The salaries of the Clerks of Courts shall be payable semi-
monthly from the fees, receipts and emoluments of the office,
after first deducting therefrom the necessary expenses of the
office, including salaries of deputies and clerks, books, station-
ery, office supplies and other necessary and customary ex-
penses of doing business. If there shall be any excess of the
fees, receipts and emoluments of the office in any year, after
deduction of expenses and salaries, including that of the
Clerk, all such excess shall be paid to the Treasurer of the
State. If the fees and receipts of the office shall be insufficient
in any year to pay all or any part of the authorized salary of
any Clerk, the deficiency shall be paid to the said Clerk by the
Comptroller from funds provided for that purpose in the State
budget.
The Clerks of Court of Baltimore City and of the several
counties shall, respectively, devote their full working time to
the duties of their office.
