AN ACT to add a new sub-section to Section 22 of Article 64A
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title
"Merit System77, as said section was amended by Chapter 866
of the Acts of 1941, said new sub-section to be known as
Sub-section (e) and to follow immediately after Sub-section
(b) of said section, relating to the extension of leave, with
pay, of certain employees under certain conditions.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new sub-section be and it is hereby added to Sec-
tion 22 of Article 64A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1939 Edition), title "Merit System", as said section was
amended by Chapter 866 of the Acts of 1941, said new sub-sec-
tion to be known as Sub-section (e), to follow immediately
after Sub-section (b) of said section, and to read as follows:
22. (e) In case any employee who has been continuously
in the State service foil not less than ten years shall suffer an
illness or injury which would result in his absence from duty
for a period of time exceeding that provided in Sub-section (a)
with pay, such employee may, with the approval of the head
of the department or agency of the State in which he is em-
ployed, appeal to the Board of Public Works for an extension
of leave with pay; and the said Board, after being satisfied as
to the merits of the case, may authorize an extension of leave
with pay, provided that such extension of time shall not exceed
one year, including the leave allowed under Sub-section (a).
