1696 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 981

"County Treasurer", said Section 89 having been amended
by Chapter 545 of the Acts of 1933 and Section 90 having;
been amended by Chapter 266 of the Acts of 1937, relating
to the compensation of the Treasurer of Charles County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 89 and 90 of Article 9 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Charles
County", sub-title "County Treasurer", Section 89 having been
amended by Chapter 545 of the Acts of 1933, and Section 90
having been amended by Chapter 266 of the Acts of 1937, be
and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

89. The said treasurer may appoint some person resident
in said county to be assistant treasurer, who shall be author-
ized to act in his place and for whose acts he shall be respon-
sible, and who shall give such bond, conditioned lor the
faithful performance of the duties imposed upon him, as the
treasurer may require; the compensation to be paid such assist-
ant treasurer to be contracted for and paid by the treasurer to
such assistant treasurer, from the salary hereinafter provided
for such treasurer.

90. The said treasurer shall receive an annual salary of
three thousand dollars, to be levied by the County Commis-
sioners at their annual levy each year, beginning with the first
levy after the term of office of said treasurer shall begin, and
he shall receive no other fees or compensation whatsoever
from any other source for the performance of his duties as
treasurer other than for sale of license tags for motor vehicles.
The said treasurer shall have the authority to appoint an
assistant treasurer, who shall be authorized to act in his place.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the im-
mediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of
the General Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date
of its passage.
