by Chapter 275 of the Acts of 1939, clarifying the pro-
visions of said section as to the compensation to be paid
to the County Commissioners of Charles County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 77 of Article 9 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Charles County, " sub-title "County Commissioners, " as
said section was amended by Chapter 27. 5 of the Acts of
1939, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
77. The County Commissioners of Charles County shall
each receive four hundred dollars per year as compensation
for their services and shall be allowed no mileage.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1943.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
319 of Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws; of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Washington County, "
sub-title "Hagerstown, " sub-heading "Mayor and Coun-
cil, " specifically providing for the appointment of a City
Engineer and increasing the salary of the City Attorney.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 319 of Article 22 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Washington County, " sub-title "Hagerstown, " sub-head-
ing "Mayor and Council, " be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
319. At the first regular meeting in April of each year
or as soon thereafter as may be convenient the Mayor with
the advice and consent of the Council, shall appoint one
person as Clerk, one person as Collector of Taxes, one
person well versed in the Law, as City Attorney, who
shall receive an annual salary of Nineteen Hundred
