CHAPTER 831.
(Senate Bill 437)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
579 of Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Washington County, "
sub-title "Keedysville, " changing the corporate name of
Keedysville from "The Burgess and Commissioners of
Keedysville" to "The Mayor and Council of Keedysville, "
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 579 of Article 22 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, (1930 Edition), title
"Washington County, " sub-title "Keedysville, " be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
579. The citizens of Keedysville, in Washington County,
are a body corporate, by the name of "The Mayor and
Council of Keedysville, " and by that name may sue and be
sued, and have and use a common seal.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That on and after
the effective date of this Act, wherever the burgess and/or
the commissioners of Keedysville are referred to in public
local or public general laws of Maryland, said reference
shall be considered and construed to mean mayor and/or
council of Keedysville, and a reference to a commissioner
shall mean a member of the council.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1943.
