CHAPTER 815.
(Senate Bill 411)
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 2 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Anne Arundel County", to be under a new sub-title
"Pensions", said new section to be known as Section
406-A1/2, and to follow immediately after Section 406-A
of said Article, as said section was enacted by Chapter
712 of the Acts of 1939, relating to pensions for em-
ployees and officers of Anne Arundel County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and, it is hereby added to
Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Anne Arundel County", to be under
a new sub-title "Pensions", said new section to be known
as Section 406-A1/2, to follow immediately after Section
406-A of said Article, as said section was enacted by Chap-
ter 712 of the Acts of 1939, and to read as follows:
406-Ai/2- The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel
County may in their discretion investigate the matter of
providing retirement pensions for County employees and
officers whose compensation is paid by the County Commis-
sioners and for whom pensions are not otherwise provided,
and may, in their discretion, establish and maintain a gen-
eral County retirement or pension system for such em-
ployes and officers; and for these purposes said Commis-
sioners may (a: ) employ such person or persons as they
deem necessary, under their direction, to investigate the
matter of providing such pensions, and to prepare, estab-
lish, maintain and administer a system which will operate
on a sound actuarial basis, (b) prescribe classifications
and conditions of admission or exclusion from any system
adopted, and provide for a general system of allowances,
benefits and payments to the members of such system, or
in the case of their death, to the dependents, and prescribe
all rules and regulations necessary or advisable for the
operation of such system; (e) levy such taxes and appro-
priate and expend such sums as may be necessary to pay
for all salaries, expenses, contributions and charges aris-
ing out of the exercise of the powers herein conferred.
The County Commissioners may, if they deem it advis-
able, take such steps as may be necessary, if any, to have
any or all such employees and officers included within the
operation of any Federal, State or other pension or retire-
ment system under the terms of which they are admissible.
