section shall only apply to Caroline, Montgomery and
Prince George's Counties.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1943.

CHAPTER 810.
(Senate Bill 395)

AN ACT to repeal Sections 450 and 452 of Article 13 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland title "Har-
ford County", sub-title "Sheriff, / (being. Sections 453
and 455 of Higinbothom's Code of Harford County), and
to enact two new sections to be known as Sections 453
and 455 of said Article 13, as provided in said Higin-
bothom's Code, relating to the levy and payment of sal-
ary and expenses by the County Commissioners of Har-
ford County to the Sheriff of said County; the duties of
said Sheriff, his fees and transportation costs and the
duties of the said Sheriff to furnish support and main-
tenance of persons committed to the County jail; and for
the return of surplus funds remaining in his hands, to
the said County Commissioners.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 450 and 452 of Article 13 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Harford
County", sub-title "Sheriff", (being Sections 453 and 455
of Higinbothom's Code of Harford County), be and they
are hereby repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That two new sec-
tions be added to Article 13 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Harford County", and sub-
title "Sheriff", to be known as Sections 453 and 455, and to
read as follows:

453. The County Commissioners of Harford County
are authorized and directed to levy for, and pay to the
Sheriff of Harford County, annually, in equal monthly in-
stalments, a salary of Three thousand dollars ($3, 000), and
shall also levy and allow to the said Sheriff, a sum not to
exceed Forty-five hundred dollars ($4500) annually, to be
paid to him in equal monthly payments, which in the dis-
cretion of said County Commissioners shall be sufficient
and proper for all expenses of the office of the said Sheriff,
which shall include the salary of deputies, and the care,
