nothing herein contained shall be construed to dissolve the
corporation known as the Mayor and Council of Brunswick;
and nothing herein contained shall be construed to release
any person or persons, corporation or corporations, from
any debt or obligation now due by him, her, it or them to
the Mayor and Council of Brunswick; nothing herein con-
tained shall (affect in any manner whatsoever the rights,
actions, choses in action, suits either at law or in equity,
obligations, properties and effects of the corporation known
as the Mayor and Council of Brunswick.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency measure and necessary
for the immediate preservation of the public health and
safety, and having been passed by a yea and nay vote,
supported by three-fifths of all the members elected to each
of the Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 741.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 21 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Talbot Count, ", sub-title "Sheriff", said new section
to be known as Section 508A, and to follow immediately
after Section 508 of said Article, relating to the com-
pensation of the Sheriff of Talbot County and abolish-
ing the charge for admitting and discharging prisoners
from the County Jail.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and it is hereby added to
Article 21 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition, ), title "Talbot County", sub-title "Sheriff",
said new section to be known as Section 508A, to follow
immediately after Section 508 of said Article, and to read
as follows:
508A. The Sheriff of Talbot County shall be paid an
annual salary of Eighteen Hundred Dollars ($1, 800. 00),
payable in equal monthly installments by the County Com-
missioners of said County, which salary shall be in lieu of
all fees and charges in criminal cases to which he is en-
titled by law except the charges now paid by the County
