MESSAGE TO THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES
By Senator Byrnes:

SENATE OF MARYLAND

ANNAPOLIS, MD., November 10, 1950.

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We propose, with your concurrence, that when the General
Assembly adjourns on Friday, November 10th, 1950, it stand
adjourned sine die.

Which was ready assented to, and sent to the House of Delegates.

FIRST READING OF HOUSE BILLS

The Chief Clerk of the House of Delegates appeared and delivered
the following messages, which were distributed by the Chair:

House Bill No. 1—By the Speaker:

A Bill entitled "An Act to repeal and re-enact, with amendments,
Sections 259 (f) (1),259 (g) (originally enacted as Section 259 (h)
by Chapter 281 of the Acts of 1947), 260, 261 (b), 261 (c) and
261 (1) of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947
Supplement, as amended), title 'Revenue and Taxes', sub-title
'Retail Sales Tax Act', and to add a new sub-section to Section 261
of said Act to be known as Sub-section (s), to follow immediately
after Sub-section (r) thereof; exempting from the operation of said
Act all sales where the purchase price is less than fifty-one cents
(51c) and certain other sales."

Which was read the first time and referred to the Committee on
Finance.

House Bill No. 2—By the Speaker:

A Bill entitled "An Act to repeal and re-enact, with amendments,
Section 309 of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947
Supplement), title 'Revenue and Taxes', sub-title 'Maryland Use
Tax', heading 'Imposition of Tax', exempting from the operation
of said Act all sales where the purchase price is less than fifty-one
cents (51c)."

Which ivas read the first time and referred to the Committee on
Finance.

RECESS

At 5.05 o'clock P. M., on motion of Mr. Byrnes, the Senate took
a recess until 5.10 o'clock P. M.
