SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws or
parts of laws inconsistent with the provisions of this Act
be and they are hereby repealed to the extent of such in-
consistency.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1941.

CHAPTER 209.
(Senate Bill 28)
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 56 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Licenses'7, sub-title
"Traders", said new section to be known as 73A, and to fol-
low immediately after Section 73 of said Article, providing
for the licensing of certain merchandise vending machines.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title
"Licenses", sub-title "Traders", said new section to be known
as Section 73A, to follow immediately after Section 73 of said
Article, and to read as follows:
73A. Each person, firm, or corporation selling or offering
for sale through coin-operated vending machines any articles
or goods of merchandise, except cigarettes, for the sale of
which a traders' license is required, shall first obtain a license
therefor and shall pay an annual license fee for such vending
machines as follows:
For each machine charging from 2 to 5 for
merchandise.................................. $1. 00
For each machine charging more than 5 for mer-
chandise.................................... f2. 00
Where the same machine vends more than one type or brand
of article, the basis for the fee shall be determined by adding
the number of cents required to purchase each type or brand
of article sold. The Clerk issuing the license shall supply the
licensee with a metal tag or stamp to be applied to such vend-
ing machines in accordance with regulations of the State
Comptroller. All licenses shall expire on the thirtieth day of
April each year. The license required by this section shall
apply to manufacturers as well as others operating such vend-
ing machines. Any person, firm, or corporation maintaining
or operating any such vending machine without a license, shall
be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall
