MISCELLANEOUS APPROPRIATIONS NO. 1
The following appropriations are made from the Special Funds of the State:
GOVERNOR'S ALLOWANCE
Item 1942 1943
1. To Baltimore City, three-tenths (30 per cent) of the
receipts of the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles
and original 2 gasoline taxes after deducting the
expenses of that department, and of the Traffic
Court, and one-half the cost of maintaining the
Gasoline Tax Department in the State Comp-
troller's Office; the amount hereby named being
an estimate only, and it being the intention that
this appropriation shall be the whole of said
balance, whether the same be more or less than
this estimate, to be used for maintaining all
streets, roads and bridges in Baltimore City..... $2,960,938.03 $3,026,109.60
2. To Baltimore City, 20 per cent of the revenues of
the onejhalf cent gasoline tax for the elimina-
tion of grade crossings in accordance with the
Act of the Legislature providing therefor; one-
eight of the cost of maintaining the Gasoline
Tax Department in the State Comptroller's office,
the amounts named being an estimate only, it
being the intention that this appropriation shall
be 20 per cent of the actual revenue derived from
this tax, less the above deduction................ 306,444.44 316,421.84
3. To the Counties and Cities of the State, one-half of
the estimated receipts of the Corporation Fran-
chise Taxes, it being the intention that one-half
the actual receipts from franchise taxes on
ordinary business corporations be distributed to
the Counties and Baltimore City and incorporated
towns in accordance with the distribution pro-
vided for by the franchise tax laws, whether the
same be more or less than this estimate........ 160,000.00 160,000.00
4. To the Register of Wills of Anne Arundel County
for the salaries and expenses of his office...... 7,200.00 7,200.00
5. To the Comptroller of the Treasurer—for share of
Income Taxes paid by resident individuals, dis-
tributed to political subdivisions; one-fourth of
the taxes collected under the Income Tax Law,
Chapter 277 of the Acts of 1939, from individual
residents of Baltimore City shall be paid over
and distributed by the Comptroller to the Mayor
