SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary
for the immediate preservation of the public health and
safety, and being passed by a yea and nay vote supported
by all the members elected to each of the two Houses of
the General Assembly, the same shall take effect from the
date of its passage.

CHAPTER 132.

(Senate Bill 276)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
262 of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County", sub-
title "Salisbury", sub-section (k) of said Section having
been amended by Chapter 57 of the Acts of 1935 of the
General Assembly of Maryland, providing for the qual-
ification of voters, the appointment and duties of Regis-
trars and for general elections in the City of Salisbury.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 262 of Article 23 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wi-
comico County", sub-title "Salisbury", sub-section (k) of
said Section having been amended by Chapter 57 of the
Acts of 1935 of the General Assembly of Maryland, be and
it is hereby repealed and reenacted with amendments, to
read as follows.

262. (a) Every citizen of Salisbury who has resided
within the corporate limits of the said City for six con-
secutive months next preceding any City Election and who
was a qualified voter at the last preceding State or Congres-
sional Election, or who may reach the age of twenty-one
years between the first Tuesday after the first Monday of
November and the date of any City Election, as herein-
after provided, shall be a duly qualified voter of the City,
and every duly qualified voter of the City who is duly regis-
tered in accordance with the provisions of this Act, shall
be entitled to vote at any and all City Elections.

(b) It shall be the duty of the Mayor on or before the
first Monday in March in the year 1941 and 1942 and every
second year thereafter to appoint as Registrars of voters in
the said City two residents and qualified voters of the City
