10. That no person shall be elected as Mayor of said town
unless he shall have been a resident of said town for at least
one year next prior to his election, and unless he shall have
been the owner of property, assessed for at least one thousand
dollars ($1, 000. 00) or more by the town assessment of prop-
erty, situated within the corporate limits of said town for at
least one year prior to his election, and unless all taxes due
thereon are paid prior to the printing of the official ballots
and in the event that the Mayor of said town shall remove
from the corporate limits thereof, then the said office of Mayor
shall forthwith become vacant, and his successor shall be duly
appointed as is provided by this act. The Mayor shall receive
the sum of four dollars ($4. 00) per diem for each regular meet-
ing of the Mayor and Council of Hurlock attended, but shall
receive no compensation for his attendance at any special
meeting.
11. That no person shall be elected as Councilman of said
town unless he shall have been a resident of said town for at
least one year prior to his election, and unless he shall have
been the owner of property, assessed for at least one thousand
dollars ($1000. 00) or more by the town assessment of prop-
erty, situated within the corporate limits of said town for
at least one year prior to his election, and unless all taxes
due thereon are paid prior to the printing of the official bal-
lots and in the event that Councilman of said town shall re-
move from the corporate limits thereof, then the said office
of Councilman shall forthwith become vacant, and his suc-
cessor shall be duly appointed as is provided by this act. The
Councilman shall receive the sum of three dollars ($3. 00) per
diem for each regular meeting of the Mayor and Council of
Hurlock attended, but shall receive no compensation for his
attendance at any special sitting.
12. That at the first regular meeting of the Mayor and
Council of said town on the second Tuesday of May, 1942,
and at the same time every second year thereafter, the Mayor
and Council of Hurlock shall appoint one person who shall
be a resident and qualified voter of the town of Hurlock,
not a member of the Council to act as Clerk to the Council,
collector of town taxes and treasurer, who shall be the same
person, and whose term of office shall be two years, and until
his successor is duly qualified. The said Clerk shall receive
the annual salary of three hundred dollars ($300. 00), and
shall perform all the duties imposed on him by ordinance of
the Mayor and Council and by-law, and shall be called "Clerk
of Hurlock".
13. That the said Clerk of Hurlock shall keep a full and
accurate account of the proceedings of the Mayor and Council
