CHAPTER 98.
(House Bill 164)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 269
of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County", sub-title "Salis-
bury", relating to the method of filling vacancies in the office
of Councilman and Mayor.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 269 of Article 23 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico
County", sub-title "Salisbury", be and the same is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
269. If any vacancy shall occur in the office of Mayor or
Councilman by death, removal, resignation, failure to qualify
or otherwise, the remaining Councilmen and Mayor, if the va-
cancy shall not be in the office of Mayor, at their next regular
meeting, or a meeting called for that purpose, shall elect a
qualified person to be Mayor or Councilman, as the case may
be, to fill such vacancy or vacancies, to serve until the next
election and until his or their successor or successors are
qualified, who shall take the oath hereinbefore prescribed and
in the same manner, which oath shall be certified to and
recorded in the proceedings of the Council in same manner as
if they had been originally elected to said vacant office, and
at the next annual election the qualified voters shall elect a
qualified person to fill the said vacancy for the unexpired
term.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1941.

CHAPTER 99.
(House Bill 190)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 295
of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County", sub-title "Salis-
bury", authorizing the Mayor and Council of Salisbury to
regulate any and all subdivisions or re-subdivisions of land
within the corporate limits of the City of Salisbury.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 295 of Article 23 of the Code of Public
