120 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 97

"Salisbury", providing for a yearly audit of the books and
accounts of the Clerk, Treasurer and Collector and such
other audits as the Mayor or Council of Salisbury may deem
proper.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 288 of Article 23 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico
County", sub-title "Salisbury", be, and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

288. The books and accounts of said Clerk, Treasurer and
Collector shall be audited as of the first day of October in
each year by a competent person or persons, to be appointed
by the Mayor; said audit to be presented to the Mayor and
Council within ninety (90) days thereafter. The Mayor or
the Council may order an audit of same at any time he or
they may deem it proper so to do, by a competent person or
persons appointed by him or them.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1941.

CHAPTER 97.
(House Bill 163)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
272 of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County", sub-title
"Salisbury", relating to the introduction and publication
of ordinances, the recording of same and the delivery of
certified copies to the Judge of the People's Court.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted Ity the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 272 of Article 23 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico
County", sub-title "Salisbury", be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

272. When any ordinance is introduced for passage by the
Council it shall be read but not passed at the meeting at which
it is introduced. As soon thereafter as conveniently may be,
a statement of the substance of the said ordinance shall be
published by posting the same at some public place, in the
