CHAPTER 682.
(House Bill 529)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 24 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wor-
cester County", to be under sub-title "Refuse—Dumping",
said new section to be known as Section 241A and to follow
immediately after Section 241 of said Article, prohibiting
the maintenance of dumps within five hundred (500) feet
of any public highway in Worcester County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
24 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edi-
tion), title "Worcester County", to be under sub-title
"Refuse—Dumping", said new section to be known as Section
241A and to follow immediately after Section 241 of said
Article, and to read as follows:

REFUSE—DUMPING.

241 A. It shall be unlawful for any person to maintain or
to permit to be maintained a public dump or a lot on which
refuse, trash or junk is deposited or stored within five hundred
(500) feet of a State highway in Worcester County, or for any
person to throw, dump or deposit any trash, junk or other
refuse upon the same or to dismantle any motor vehicle there-
on, unless a substantial wood fence at least six (6) feet high
and with a space of not more than one inch between the boards,
shall be erected along said highway in front of said lot, but
any incorporated town in said County may dump or throw
trash or other refuse in any lowland or gully for use as a fill.
Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be fined
not exceeding twenty-five dollars ($ 25. 00) for each such vio-
lation, and each day on which such violation continues shall
be considered a separate offense.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1941.
