Supervisors of Election, the Mayor and Common Council shall
appoint a qualified person to fill said vacancy occurring in said
office. The Supervisors of Election shall receive Five Dollars
each for each and every day they may be required to serve as
Judges of Election or as Registration Officials.
764. The said Supervisors of Election shall appoint by at
least one advertisement in a weekly newspaper published in
the town of Mount Rainier, or in case there be no such paper
in a weekly newspaper circulating in said town, two days for
registration in each and every biennium, not less than
twenty days nor more than thirty days before the first Mon-
day in May in such year, on which days the said Supervisors
of Election shall sit as Registration Officials at some easily
accessible place in said town to be named in said advertise-
ment from the hours of 8 A. M. to 8 P. M. At least one day
shall intervene between the two registration days herein pro-
vided for.
Each of said Supervisors shall be furnished by the Mayor
and Common Council with a well bound registration book
which shall be kept by him, and for which he shall be respon-
sible. In such book there shall be a space for the name of
each person registering, his age, his color, his actual place of
residence in said town, his ward, his occupation, and the date
of registration; and a space where he shall sign his name, or
where the registration official shall sign his name for him if
he be unable to write, in which case the person registering
shall make his mark. The Supervisors acting as Registration
Officials shall have the registration books at the place and
at the times designated as above set out for registration, and
shall swear each applicant, for registration, and if upon ex-
amination of such applicant they both agree that such appli-
cant is a qualified voter in accordance with the provisions of
Section 761 hereof, they shall each register his name; and all
persons so registered shall be entitled to vote at town elec-
tions so long as their names appear upon such registration
books.
The Supervisors of Election acting as Registration Officials
on the first of said registration days herein provided for,
whenever an affidavit is made before them by any registered
voter of said town that any name upon said books is not en-
titled to be thereon, shall note said name, and shall be placing
in the United States mail addressed to said voter at the place
of residence set out in said registration books with sufficient
postage prepaid, a notice that his name has been noted for
striking off, and that they will act thereon on the second day
of registration, notify the party whose name has been noted
that they will act upon his right to remain upon said books
on said second day of registration. The said Supervisors of
