Said collector and assistant shall receive in equal monthly
installments annual salaries of two thousand one hundred
dollars ($2, 100) and one thousand two hundred dollars
($1, 200), respectively, and said collector and assistant
shall be entitled to no fees, commissions or compensation
other than said salaries. The County Commissioners of
said county shall annually levy and collect from the assess-
able property in Carroll County a sum of money sufficient
to pay said salaries.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1939.

CHAPTER 290.
(Senate Bill 45)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 46 of the Anno-
tated Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title
"Inheritance, " said new section to be known as Section
46 and to follow immediately after Section 45 of said
Article to grant escheated lands to the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore City, or the Board of County Com-
missioners of any County for the use of the Board of
Education of the city or county wherein said lands lie,
and to provide for the selling of said lands to pay the
costs of any proceedings in which it may have been deter-
mined that such lands have escheated.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That a new section be, and it is hereby added to
Article 46 of the Annotated Code of Public General Laws
of Maryland, title "Inheritance, " said new section to be
known as Section 46 and to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 45 of said Article and to read as follows:

46. Any lands, whether improved or unimproved, that
have escheated by reason of the last owner in fee simple
dying intestate and without heirs, shall become the prop-
erty in fee simple of the Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more City or the Board of County Commissioners of the
city or county where such lands lie for the use of the Board
of School Commissioners or the Board of Education of the
City or County, as the case may be; and whenever it shall
