CHAPTER 271.
(Senate Bill 78)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
102 of Article 12 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Garrett County, " sub-
title "County Treasurer, " as said section was amended
by Chapter 199 of the Acts of 1937, and to add a new
section to said Article, to be known as Section 102A,
relating to the levy and payment of taxes, the discount
to be allowed for the prompt payment of taxes and limit-
ing the amount which the County Commissioners of
Garrett County may appropriate or levy as a contingent
fund.

(Senate Bill 93)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments, Section
171A of Article 23 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1935 Supplement), title "Corporations, " sub-title
"Building or Homestead Associations, " relating to for-
eign building associations.

SECTION. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That Section 171A of Article 23 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1935 Supplement) as amended
by Chapter 309 of the Acts of 1937, title "Corporations, "
sub-title "Building or Homestead Associations, " be and it
is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

171A. No foreign building, loan or homestead associa-
tion shall make loans of any kind or transact any business
of a building and loan association within the State of Mary-
land, or maintain an office in the State of Maryland for the
purpose of transacting such business until it has been admit-
ted to do business in the State of Maryland. Any foreign
building, loan or homestead association may be admitted
to do business in the State of Maryland upon the same
terms and conditions, as to taxes, fines, penalties, licenses,
fees and deposits, as may be required of a Maryland Asso-
ciation in order to transact business in the State, Terri-
